Case Study: Stack Emission Particulate Identification Analysis
Stack emissions must pass a series of compliance tests. Out-of-compliance particulate test samples must be investigated to identify what the particulate is.
Stack testing companies primarily use particulate identification analysis for engineering, out-of-compliance investigations and sometimes regulation purposes. Below is an electron microscopy image from an out-of-compliance study. After a comprehensive analysis by SEM-EDS, the results indicated that the filters were overloaded with silicate fly ash cenospheres. With this information, the client was able to trace back to the root cause and resolve the issue.
A collection of fly ash particles in various sizes collected from an emission plant.
