Abstract:
The rapid expansion in the number of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) asbestos laboratories since the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) went into effect has highlighted the scarcity of trained TEM analysts. This situation has led to the formation of TEM asbestos training courses by universities, instrument manufacturers and private research groups. Such courses, which last one or two weeks, can provide an introduction to asbestos analysis techniques, but are only the beginning of the analyst’s training.
