Course Offering: Fundamentals of Asbestos Analysis by TEM

Enrollment is now open for the TEM training course Fundamentals of Asbestos Analysis by Transmission Electron Microscopy.

Dates: April 16-18, 2025

The course covers sample preparation, analysis, and reporting for the AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) method, the ASTM “Test Method for Airborne Asbestos Concentration in Ambient and Indoor Atmospheres… by TEM Direct Transfer” (ASTM Method D6281), and the ASTM Standard Dust Count Method (ASTM Method D5755). Information about the standard methods for the analysis of drinking water, ASTM test methods, the NIOSH 7402 method, and AEM bulk and soil analysis will also be provided.

The class size is limited to six people to allow considerable hands-on microscopy experience with the methods. The course is taught by James R. Millette, Ph.D. (retired) and Steven P. Compton, Ph.D. of MVA Scientific Consultants at our laboratory in Duluth, Georgia.
