Overview of Sample Preparation

Sample preparation is often necessary prior to performing most analytical techniques. Our scientists at MVA Scientific Consultants select the optimal sample preparation methods based on the technique, type of sample material, and objective of the project. With over three decades of experience across a variety of materials, our sample preparation expertise spans a wide range of complexities from handling critical preparations in our ISO class 5 clean benches to achieving electron-transparent cross-sections.

There are a wide range of preparation methods available at our facility. One of our goals is to minimize sample handling time while samples move through the lab from one technique to another. Listed below are common sample preparation methods for microscopy techniques in our laboratory. Some of these preparations can also apply to other techniques.
