Randy Boltin

Senior Research Scientist

Randy is a project leader and senior research scientist at MVA. He is knowledgeable in providing consultation on microscopical analysis methods. Since 1984, he has specialized in particulate characterization using techniques such as light microscopy (polarized, brightfield reflectance, darkfield reflectance, UV fluorescence, phase contrast), transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy. His technical expertise includes microscopical investigations of soil, dust, asbestos, industrial emissions, and contaminants. Additionally, he evaluates geologic materials for use in construction and industry and offers consultation on matters related to the minerals industry.

  • M.S., Geology with a minor in soil science, North Carolina State University
  • B.S., Geology, University of South Carolina

Over twenty technical publications and presentations in the areas of microscopy, mineralogy, and industrial hygiene.
